Van Life Explorer Hidden Trail Through Authentic Villages along the Amazing Lake Atitlan Shore What is the best way to explore the beautiful Lake Atitlan? The steep mountainous shoreline of Lake Atitlan makes it difficult and in some cases impossible to visit all the little indigenous authentic villages dotted along the shoreline in a big van like ours. With the perfect, van life camp spot Curt takes a 3-hour hike and explores the shoreline between the city of San Marcos to Santa Cruz. Along the way expect to see lots of elevation changes with beautiful vistas and fauna. You will quickly see why the indigenous people consider this to be the place where the rainbow gets its color. We will pass-through indigenous Mayan villages only accessible by foot or water taxis, through forests and farms with panoramic views of majestic volcanos.
